Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is a key tool for managing many chronic health conditions, including diabetes and renal disease. MNT is defined as a “nutrition-based treatment provided by a registered dietitian nutritionist.” A Registered Dietitian is an expert on diet and nutrition within a wide variety of settings and nutrition topics. A referral is needed to meet with a Registered Dietitian and this referral requires a MD or DO signature, unable to accept signed referral from NP or PA.
Insurance will have to be checked by patient to verify coverage
