MRH Congratulates New Patient Activity Director in LTC

Marlette Regional Hospital is pleased to congratulate Melanie Cowger on her new role at MRH, serving as the Patient Activity Director for Long-Term Care. Melanie has been working in collaboration with the LTC department for over a year as a CENA and a part-time activity aid coordinator.

Originally from Lapeer MI, Melanie has always called the thumb her home and was excited to be back closer to family after raising her two children in Munising for over 20 years. She started her CENA career 26 years ago with the ambition to one day work with residents as the activities director. Over the last year, she worked hard to complete a 16 week course in just 12 weeks finishing in the top of her class at Rowlette & Laker LLC.

The Patient Activity Director in Long-Term Care at Marlette Regional Hospital implements activities to enhance the resident’s quality of life. Melanie says, “As the director, I plan the monthly activities calendar, order and pick up supplies for crafts, parties, equipment, and Implement scheduled activities. I also create care plans for the activity department.” Melanie looks forward to new experiences and opportunity that comes with the role, she is already brainstorming new ideas to implement. “I have big plans and new ideas to begin in the near future. I plan to turn the Long-Term Care Unit courtyard into a vegetable garden for the residents to enjoy.” Please join us in congratulating Melanie on her new role at Marlette Regional Hospital!
