MRH Foundation Tree of Shining Love Honors Lotus Schultz ~ The Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) Foundation will be celebrating the 33rd anniversary of the Tree of Shining Love (TSL) event this Christmas season. We are pleased to announce that this year’s TSL event will pay special tribute to our friend Lotus Schultz for her dedication and lifelong service to our rural hometown communities.
Lotus (Badgerow) Schultz was a Thumb Area resident all of her life. Being raised in the Croswell community gave her a strong foundation of faith, family, community and work ethic, these principles determined her future path.
Lotus received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1953. This education directed her on a path where she could live out her passion of caring for patients, serving her community and raising a family. She and her husband Ralph raised their children, established a successful business and made their home in the Marlette community. During this same period, Lotus worked at Marlette Community Hospital (MCH) as a registered nurse. Lotus enjoyed her career at MCH and was always looking for ways to make a difference. Her determination, wisdom, common-sense and generosity was well known. In 1983 she was invited to serve on the Board of Trustees of MCH where she served faithfully and impacted the direction of the hospital for twelve years.
In her later years, Lotus served as a dedicated volunteer, an advocate for good health habits and contributed to many worthy causes. She continued to be known for freely sharing her life lessons, faith and advice without reservation. Please join us this holiday season as we honor Lotus Schultz for her lasting impact on the community and our hospital.
The MRH Foundation’s Tree of Shining Love event invites the public to honor or memorialize the special people in their lives. Those honored and memorialized will be recognized in a special presentation at the Tree of Shining Love Ceremony on Sunday, December 5, 2021 and in local forms of media during the holiday season. This year’s event proceeds will benefit The Heartlands Community Center.
