MARK YOUR CALENDAR – PINK OUT FOR CANCER CLASH ON SEPTEMBER 17TH

Mark Your Calendar for the Pink Out for Cancer Clash on September 17th   ~ The long-standing rivalry among athletes of Marlette and Brown City schools will surely continue into the 2021-22 academic year as their varsity football teams face off on Friday, September 17th in Brown City. The Pink Out for Cancer Clash is the name of the game and its purpose is to raise awareness about cancer.

The Pink Out for Cancer Clash event pays tribute to victims and survivors of cancer and raises money to support local individuals through the Breast Cancer Understanding, Prevention, and Screening (B.C.U.P.S.) program at Marlette Regional Hospital.

B.C.U.P.S. is in place to financially assist patients in acquiring important screening mammograms and diagnostic testing services. For Thumb Area patients that have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are undergoing treatment, B.C.U.P.S. provides grant funding and patients are eligible to reapply every 6 months.

A group of exceptional community volunteers and school representatives from both communities have worked collaboratively with the Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) Foundation over the past few months to coordinate this biannual event. Area residents can support this event by purchasing a Pink Out for Cancer tee shirt for $15 that also serves as their ticket into the game. Tee shirts will be available for purchase a few weeks before the game at Marlette Regional Hospital, Kohler Oil & Propane, Tri-County Bank (Marlette and Brown City), Marlette Community Schools, and Brown City Community Schools.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 17th at the Brown City football field. A tailgate will commence just prior to the game starting around 5 p.m. catered by Brower Farms.
