MRH BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON THE HEARTLANDS

Marlette Regional Hospital Begins Construction on ~ Senior Living Community “The Heartlands”  MARLETTE, MI – Marlette Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that construction has begun on a new senior living community located across from the hospital campus. The community is designed for an active senior lifestyle filled with recreation and social opportunity, while also providing support services and amenities to allow residents to comfortably age in place with convenient access to leading clinical care. Construction is slated to be completed in Summer 2022, and reservations are being accepted on an on-going basis.

Marlette Senior Living will offer a variety of living options to meet different senior lifestyles including 20 spacious standalone independent living villas with attached garages, as well as 20 assisted living and 12 memory care apartments for residents requiring additional care and support services. The campus will also feature a 4,596 square foot community center that will be available for public use by appointment and will include: large meeting/dining room area seating up to 100 people, kitchenette, media room, gym exercise/ room, bathrooms, exam/office rooms, and an outside dining area.

Marlette Senior Living’s 20 independent living villas will offer a premium rental housing option designed specifically for active seniors with single-story barrier free living, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, attached one car garage, and a spacious open concept living/dining area. With convenient access to the campus’ community center, independent living residents can enjoy amenities like a robust social calendar, dining options, and convenient access to on-site clinical services. In addition, residents will enjoy an all-inclusive worry-free lifestyle with rents including cable/Wi-Fi service, daily trash collection, maintenance, and in-unit emergency calling systems powered by Amazon Alexa devices.

The Community’s 20 assisted living apartments are designed for seniors requiring assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, medication management, and meals. The assisted living building will provide 24-hour care and support services, 3 delicious meals a day tailored for specific diets, an integrated wellness program including daily fitness classes, and a robust social program with activities like bingo, card clubs, on-site religious services, and much more. The 12-unit memory care wing will offer similar programs and services to the assisted living but in a secure environment specifically tailored to residents suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Marlette Senior Living represents an over $11 million investment in the area, and is expected to create nearly 30 new employment opportunities for local residents. The development is a community effort using primarily local contractors and suppliers, including general contractor Bob Kolar, Thumb Heating and Cooling, Keys Construction, and main material suppler Ben’s Contracting Center. Financing is being provided by local institution Tri-County Bank, and development and operational consulting services are being provided by WRG Senior Living.

“We are pleased to be able to bring this exciting service to our communities especially during this very difficult time the pandemic has created.  We have already begun taking reservation requests for the senior villas and assisted living services even though we are a year out from being done with construction.  We could not have done this at this time without the tremendous and unwavering support of our community and local contractors.  This truly has been a community-wide effort to get this project off the ground!”
