4/7/2021 UPDATED VISITOR RESTRICTIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS

Dear Community Member,
 
With the increase of patients presenting with COVID-like symptoms to our hospital for services, we are updating our patient visitation to the following:
 
Visitor limits will be maintained in the following ways for each department:
 
✔️ Emergency Department – NO visitors at this time with the exception of pediatric patients under the age of 17, one healthy parent that must remain at the bedside. Critical care or possible end-of-life state, one healthy visitor that must remain at the bedside. Extenuating circumstances will be handled case-by-case, one healthy visitor that must remain at the bedside.
 
✔️ Surgical Services – one bedside visitor that must remain in the patient’s room. Pediatric patients under the age of 17 in any setting are allowed two parents/relatives to be present
 
✔️ Inpatient, Observation, Swing Bed Patients – NO visitors at this time, with the exception of: Possible end-of-life state, one healthy visitor that must remain in the patient’s room. Extenuating circumstances will be handled case-by-case, one healthy visitor that must remain in the patient’s room.
 
✔️ Long-Term Care – scheduled window visits only, unless extenuating circumstances or end of life. We continue to closely monitor state and federal regulations related to COVID-19 and the long-term care population along with working closely with the Sanilac County Health Department.
 
✔️ Hospice – one visitor at a time, two visitors at a time for end-of-life state.
 
✔️ Outpatient Testing – only the patient, unless the patient is under the age of 17, then a parent may accompany. Unless extenuating circumstances require a visitor to be present.
 
✔️ Outpatient Procedure with Sedation – one bedside visitor that must remain in the patient’s room. Pediatric patients under the age of 17 in any setting are allowed two parents/relatives to be present.
 
✔️ Physician Office Appointments – one visitor accompanying the patient.
 
✔️ ALL allowed visitors must pass health screening prior to visit and are required to wear a mask at all times for the duration of their visit. Visitors that fail to follow this requirement will be asked to leave. Visitors accommodations shall be flexible in all care settings for patients with physical or mental disabilities of any kind, including patients who are deaf, hard of hearing, and/or blind. If more visitors present than are allowed to visit, the excess visitors will be asked to remain in their vehicle. All visitors will be required to socially distance themselves from the patient, other visitors, and all staff. Visitation is not allowed during any aerosol-generating procedures (example – breathing treatment) or during collection of respiratory specimens unless deemed necessary by hospital staff for the care and wellbeing of the patient.
 
We will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 activity in our area along with the surrounding communities and updating patient visitation accordingly and/or as allowed by state and federal regulations.
