Marlette Regional Hospital Implements Visitor Restrictions

Marlette Regional Hospital Implements Visitor Restrictions ~ In response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak and in accordance with Governor Whitmer’s executive order released on Friday, March 13, 2020, Marlette Regional Hospital will not permit any visitors to its facilities for purposes other than to receive medical care, treatment, and services until further notice. Exceptions will be made for healthy designated drivers accompanying patients for treatment and certain compassionate care situations such as end-of-life care.

Further, Marlette Regional Hospital and healthcare facilities across the State of Michigan are assessing for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors for all individuals not under their care who are seeking entry into their facilities. All healthcare facilities have been instructed to deny entry to any individual with these symptoms or risk factors.

Of confirmed cases, COVID-19 causes mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you think you have COVID-19, please contact your primary care provider, local Health Department, or local hospital by phone for care instructions. The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) has also established a hotline to answer health-related COVID-19 questions. The hotline is open 7 days per week from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 888-535-6136.

All community residents should continue to take the following basic personal hygiene measures to prevent the spread of illness:
• Wash hands often with soap and water. If soap and water is not available, use hand sanitizer.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
• Avoid contact with people who are sick.
• Stay home when you are sick.

If residents need to contact the hospital for scheduling, questions, or a status update on a loved one, please call 989-635-4000.

Marlette Regional Hospital is dedicated to providing safe, quality healthcare services to our communities. It is our hope that these measures will not only safeguard against the spread of COVID-19 in the Thumb Region, but will also ensure that we have healthy staff to care for those seeking medical treatment. Visitor restrictions will be in place until April 5, 2020 or until further notice.
