Wedding Bells Ring at Marlette Regional Hospital

Wedding Bells Ring at Marlette Regional Hospital ~ It’s not every day that someone gets married at a hospital, but on February 22, 2019, Marlette Regional Hospital was the proud host of an impromptu wedding ceremony and reception! The newlyweds, Anthony and Dixie of Imlay City had been engaged for a year with intentions to marry later this fall, but in light of the declining health of Anthony’s father who was recently admitted to the hospital, the couple decided to move up the wedding to ensure that his father could take part in their special day.

The event was planned in less than 24 hours and all hands were on deck at the hospital! Marlette Regional Hospital’s social worker, Emily Howard, worked with the couple and staff to coordinate a wedding ceremony in the hospital’s chapel with local Pastor Mike Hollenbeck officiating. Upon conclusion of the ceremony, hospital staff gathered for a procession throughout the hallways complete with confetti and a round of applause. Staff decorated a private lounge area for the couple to share champagne, refreshments, and a wedding cake with close family and friends. The event truly was a moving experience and is a testament to our staff’s caring and compassionate nature.
