MRH Foundation Tree of Shining Love Honors MI Teen Ranch Founders

MRH Foundation Tree of Shining Love Honors MI Teen Ranch Founders ~ The Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) Foundation will be observing the 31st anniversary of the Tree of Shining Love event this holiday season, and this year’s event will pay special tribute to Ray and Hilda Clendenan, founders of the Michigan Teen Ranch.

Ray and Hilda Clendenan were Thumb Area residents most of their lives. Ray grew up on the Maplehurst Farm in North Branch, and Hilda grew up on the Hager Farm in Marlette. After marrying in 1948, they farmed together for nearly two decades before dedicating their lives to the greater Thumb Region community.

Ray and Hilda began serving the community and influenced the lives of thousands of youth and adults as they served in Youth for Christ for several decades and were the founders of the Michigan Teen Ranch that operated for 33 years. Ray and Hilda are remembered for serving God, loving their family and friends, and unselfishly and compassionately helping others as evidenced by the legacy they left behind.

Please join us this holiday season as we honor Ray and Hilda Clendenan for their lasting impact on youth and families in our Thumb Region communities.

The MRH Foundation’s Tree of Shining Love event invites the public to honor or memorialize the special people in their lives. Those honored and memorialized will be recognized in a special presentation at the Tree of Shining Love Ceremony on Sunday, December 8, 2019 and in local forms of media during the holiday season.

This year’s event proceeds will benefit a new project to support interior improvements to Marlette Regional Hospital’s laboratory and long-term care unit (nursing home).
