Marlette Regional Hospital Unveils New 3D Mammography Technology ~ Marlette Regional Hospital (MRH) is pleased to announce new 3D mammography technology available within their Gordon and Gayle Miller Foundation Women’s Imaging Center in Marlette.
3D mammography’s exceptionally sharp images has been clinically proven to detect forty-one percent more invasive breast cancer over 2D technology, and has proven to reduce callbacks for additional testing by 40%. 3D technology is also FDA-approved as the superior screening technology for women with dense breast tissue.
3D technology differs from traditional 2D by capturing multiple slices of breast tissue at different angles, whereas 2D technology captures two images of each breast—a side-to-side view and top-to-bottom view. As the name implies, 3D technology captures many images that are reconstructed to produce a clear 3D rendering of each breast. A radiologist is then able to review the reconstruction, one slide at a time, as if turning pages in a book to detect lumps, tumors and other abnormalities.
