Infection Preventionist

Position Summary:

This individual has oversight over infection control and prevention related activities within the Long Term Care Unit.

Position Hours:

32 hours/week- Day shift.

Education:

Associates degree in nursing required. Bachelor’s degree desired but not required. Knowledge of Skilled Nursing Facility Regulations preferred. Current knowledge of the principles of epidemiology, sanitation, sterilization/disinfection and adult education desired but not required Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

License/Certification:

Current State of Michigan RN or LPN licensure. Basic Life Support certification required. Infection Control certification required within 6 months.

Experience:

Minimum of three years’ experience in a skilled long term care setting.

Requirements:

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with variety of people from diverse backgrounds. This may include direct contact with the administrative team, board of trustees, department leaders, hospital staff, medical staff, patients and representatives of local, state, and federal healthcare resources and agencies.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision effectively managing multiple priorities.
Must have the ability to objectively prepare and analyze data.
Must have organizational skills to prepare reports and gather supporting documents.
