Marlette Regional Hospital, in partnership with Covenant Medical Group has a unique opportunity for an experienced board certified general surgeon. This surgeon will provide services to Marlette Regional Hospital, part of the Covenant Regional Thumb Network. The surgeon will be part of the larger Covenant Medical Group, an employed physician network of Covenant HealthCare with more than 175 physicians throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region of Michigan.

Weekday call in Marlette has no overnight responsibilities. Call days are determined in conjunction with the hospital administrative team.

Marlette Regional Hospital is a critical access, 25-bed hospital located 50 miles southeast of Saginaw in Marlette.  We service the greater Thumb Region with a vast range of health services delivered by a team of highly trained and compassionate staff. We are one of the largest employers in Sanilac County, employing 450 full-time, part-time, and casual staff.

Marlette Regional Hospital’s vast range of health services include emergency care and ambulance services; cancer care diabetes education; diagnostic services —cardiac/vascular, cardiopulmonary, diagnostic imaging including cutting-edge 3D mammography and nuclear medicine, laboratory, neurology, respiratory therapy, and sleep testing; primary care and chronic care management; hospice care including a six-room inpatient unit; independent senior living; inpatient care; swing bed services; 39-bed skilled nursing facility; infusion and injection services; medical specialists; in- and out-patient surgical services; and therapy services.

In 2020, we will break ground on an integrated senior living community that will feature assisted living, memory care, and independent senior living apartments.

New, state-of-the-art technology was recently integrated into our diagnostic imaging center including Hologic Selenia Dimensions 3D mammography and Phillips EPIC 5G ultrasound. We have full-time radiologist coverage to interpret results on-site or remotely.

Marlette Regional Hospital has five rural family practice offices staffed with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants located throughout Michigan’s Thumb Region in the communities of Marlette, Brown City, Kingston, Mayville, and North Branch.

Marlette Regional Hospital serves rural communities in Sanilac County and portions of Lapeer and Tuscola Counties. The hospital’s service area includes numerous municipalities: Brown City, Decker, Marlette, Melvin, Peck, Sandusky, Snover, Fostoria, Kingston, Mayville, South Branch, North Branch, Clifford, and Silverwood. Based on census data for municipalities, approximately 72,874 people live in the service area.

The hospital provides service to communities in which there is a wide range of needs.

Marlette and the surrounding communities are close to Lake Huron and have year-round outdoor recreation including golfing, hunting, biking, sailing, kayaking, and fishing. Conveniently located in the Heart of Michigan’s Thumb Region, large city conveniences are within a one-hour commute to the west and south of Marlette.

Visitor Restrictions for all MRH-Owned Facilities

We are updating our Visitor Restrictions to the following:

o Emergency Department –
▪ One designated visitor that must remain in the ED the whole time, once the visitor leaves, they will not be permitted to return until the patient is discharged.
▪ Pediatric patients under the age of 17, two healthy parents that must remain at the bedside.
▪ Extenuating circumstances such as critical care, possible end-of-life-state, will be handled case-by-case.
▪ Patients presenting with COVID symptoms-No visitors until the COVID test comes back negative. If it comes back positive the patient will continue to have no visitors.

o Surgical Services – one bed-side visitor that must remain in the patient’s room
▪ Pediatric patients under the age of 17 in any setting are allowed two parents/relatives to be present
o Inpatient, Observation, Swing Bed Patients –
▪ Two visitors per patient at a time that must stay in the patients room the whole time.
▪ Visitors ages 13 – 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
▪ Patients admitted that are COVID positive, No visitors in the COVID rooms.
▪ Extenuating circumstances such as critical care, possible end-of-life-state, will be handled case-by-case.

o Long-Term Care (LTC) – please contact the LTC at 989-635-4400o Hospice – Visitation shall be accommodated, please check in at the Hospice Residence Nurses Station.

o Outpatient Testing – only the patient, unless the patient is under the age of 17, then a parent may accompany
▪ Unless extenuating circumstances require a visitor to be present

o Outpatient Procedure with Sedation – one bed-side visitor that must remain in the patient’s room
▪ Pediatric patients under the age of 17 in any setting are allowed two parents/relatives to be present

o Physician Office Appointments – one visitor accompanying the patient
• ALL allowed visitors must pass health screening prior to visit and are required to wear a mask at all times for the duration of their visit. Visitors that fail to follow this requirement will be asked to leave.
• Visitor accommodations shall be flexible in all care settings for patients with physical or mental disabilities of any kind, including patients who are deaf, hard of hearing and / or blind.
• If more visitors present than are allowed to visit, the excess visitors will be asked to remain in their vehicle.
• All visitors will be required to socially distance themselves from the patient, other visitors and all staff.
We will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 activity in our area along with the surrounding communities and updating patient visitation accordingly and / or as allowed by state and federal regulations.
