United Healthcare Partners Diabetes Education Program Welcomes New Coordinator ~

Marlette Regional Hospital and McKenzie Health System, as affiliates of United Healthcare Partners, are pleased to announce that Melanie Campbell, RN, CDE is serving as the new coordinator for their diabetes education program.

Melanie has thirteen years of experience providing diabetes education services and is experienced in holistic nutritional services. Melanie received her nursing degree from St. Clair Community College and her CDE from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. A familiar face to Marlette Regional Hospital and the Sandusky community, Melanie served as Marlette’s program coordinator for nearly a decade before transitioning to a casual basis to spend more time with her young family and work on their farm in Sandusky.

The diabetes self-management training program at Marlette Regional Hospital and McKenzie Health System offers individualized assessments and classes that address topics like: understanding diabetes, managing blood glucose patterns, preventing complications, understanding how to balance diet and medications, managing hypoglycemia, meal planning, and how to read food labels. These consultations and classes are offered in Marlette and Sandusky.

The diabetes self-management education program is state and nationally certified, and aims to build relationships with those in our region living with diabetes; ultimately leading to blood glucose control, prevention of diabetes-related complications, and higher quality of life.
