Friends of MRH members enjoy the gratification of participating in projects that benefit their family members, friends, neighbors, rural residents and area travelers as well.
Over the years, the generosity of the Friends of MRH members has helped to update many areas within our community’s hospital.
You may be asking yourself why we need donations from the community.
Community hospitals like ours are independently owned, non-profit organizations. Revenue received from services cover operational costs (i.e. overhead, salaries/benefits, emergent repairs, utilities, etc.) and do not provide funding for updates and improvements. You have probably seen other rural hospitals that are showing their age because of this dilemma.
The Friends of MRH played an important role in keeping our community hospital ahead of the curve by making steady improvements. These interior renovations have included the Hannah D. Wolfe Retirement Residence, Emergency Room, Long-Term Care, Acute Care Unit, Diagnostic Imaging, and Hospice Residence. Last year’s fundraising cause—Acute Care/Swing Bed Unit —will begin renovation this coming March 2019.
Please consider joining the Friends of MRH membership and supporting our current First Impressions Exterior Upgrade Project. It will address needed and overdue updates to our exterior landscape and signage at our hospital and our rural healthcare clinics in an effort to reflect the quality services and improvements we have made on the inside.
