POSITION SUMMARY:   The Diagnostic Imaging Technologist will be under the direct supervision of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the Medical Director. The technologist will provide services to patients and physicians by utilizing diagnostic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images. The Technologist will be responsible for utilizing the proper radiographic techniques to obtain required diagnostic images. The Technologist shall also be responsible for maintaining patient safety and comfort. Performs mammographic radiological procedures and duties at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performance of these duties and procedures requires independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Must possess the necessary skills to perform mammographic procedures for adult and geriatric patients. Which may include mammography guided biopsies.

 POSITION HOURS: Casual position with variable hours.


 EDUCATION: Graduate from an approved school of Radiological Technology and/or ARRT.

  LICENSURE/REGISTRY/CERTIFICATION: ARRT credentialed or registry eligible. Maintains credentials required by the ARRT and registry in specialty area.  Mammography registered or registry eligible by an approved National agency (ARRT). Must have ARRT registry and completed all requirements to perform mammographic exams, meeting MQSA rules and regulations.  Registry eligible technicians must be registered within one year from the date of hire.

EXPERIENCE:  Completion of an approved school of Radiological Technology and/or ARRT registered. Minimum of 12 months in a hospital setting.  Experience must include interventional procedures. Experience in various Diagnostic Imaging modalities a plus.

 REQUIREMENTS: Current knowledge of universal exams as well as the standards and regulations that apply to those exams.  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office.  Ability to coordinate and communicate with other personnel and performs customer related services. Must have the ability to work independently, excellent customer service skills, computer skills, good communication skills, and knowledge of RIS/PACS. Must maintain credentials at all times and meet continuing education requirements of the accrediting body.
