Social Worker BSW/MSW

POSITION SUMMARY:       The Hospice Social Worker is responsible for the delivery of varied social work services to Hospice patients and their families.  The purpose of this position is to provide initial psychosocial evaluations, ongoing psychosocial counseling, direct casework services, bereavement services, and community education, outreach and referral.  The Hospice social worker is an integral part of the Hospice IDG.

POSITION HOURS: Casual position with variable hours.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:    Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a School of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:  Masters of Social Work with State of Michigan licensure.  Current Michigan driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE:          One year of social work experience in a healthcare setting; hospice experience preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families in various settings
  • Demonstrated skill in social work practice, ability to cope with family, emotional stress, and tolerance of individual lifestyles
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; friendly and professional demeanor
  • Computer experience necessary
